Field Day 2020!
- 25 June 2020
- West Georgia Amateur Radio Society
We will be operating out of a large building towards the back of the fairgrounds. If you are familiar with where our building is located, you can't miss us. The plan is to operate 4A using a generator (supplied by Matt, KM4WQC) along with a GOTA (get on the air) station as well as some 2 meter/6 meter operation. All license classes will be allowed to operate the HF gear with a control operator present. The GOTA station will be reserved for those licensed within the last year, unlicensed operators, or inactive operators.
We will shoot for operating until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (6/28/2020).
There are tables and chairs for the operators, but please bring a few yard chairs to lounge about in. Also, it will be rather warm out during the day, so bring plenty to drink.
Last but not least, we hope to swing a few hammers and make some progress on our own shack during the weekend. Thanks to the fundraiser and some other contributions we have the funds needed to complete the build. Lumber is to be purchased to frame in the walls. Some other big ticket items that we already have include flooring, air conditioning/heating, recessed lights for the ceiling. We just need to begin to put the puzzle pieces together. Tim, K4DVJ and his son Christian KB4RCO as well as some other volunteers have worked hard to get us to the this point.
If anyone has any questions, contact Clay, KN4HEU (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or myself (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and we will be happy to assist.
One last thing...Covid-19 precautions - Feel free to bring a mask to wear inside the building. We should have plenty of room to stay far enough apart that all will be safe.
73 for now and I hope to see you on Saturday and/or Sunday.
John, WD8LQT
